Dear Conte Families,

Happy summer, Conte Families! We hope you're soaking up every bit of sunshine, rest, and fun and getting just a little bit excited, because a brand-new school year is right around the corner! We are beyond delighted to welcome so many new families into our amazing Conte learning community and to welcome back our returning Conte Lions and their families with open arms. Together, we're ready to make magic happen this year!

We are so grateful for the positive energy you bring and the dedication you show to your child's growth every single day! Let's make this our best school year yet, together. One simple way we can start strong? Getting our lions to school on time, every time, ready to learn and ready to shine. When our students succeed, WE ALL SUCCEED!

Teacher Welcome
Between August 26 and August 28, your child's homeroom teacher(s) will reach out to introduce themselves through our district's communication app, Apptegy. If you have not received a call by 3:00 PM on August 28, it likely means we do not have the correct contact information on file in PowerSchool. Please call the main office (475-220-5400) so we can update your information.

Important Dates To Remember
• August 19 Orientation (Grades K–8) — 9:30 AM or 5:00 PM in the Cafeteria. Both sessions cover the same information; please attend just one.
• August 31: First day of school for all students in Grades K–8.
• September 2: First day of school for PreK students. Preschool families will receive orientation details directly from their child's teacher in the weeks leading up to the start of school.
• September 16 : Meet the Teacher / Back-to-School Bash — 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, for all grade levels.

Arrival & Dismissal

9:05 AM — Doors open for students
9:20 AM — Cutoff time; any student arriving after this will be marked Tardy
3:25 PM — Dismissal begins
3:35 PM — All students should be picked up by this time
We ask all families to help their children arrive on time each day. Arriving after 9:20 AM means missing crucial instruction time and our Community Building Block — an important part of how our Conte Lions start the day connected and ready to learn.

Mandatory Uniforms
Conte West Hills is a uniform school. Students in PreK through Grade 8 should wear navy or white shirts with khaki or black bottoms.

Yondr Pouches (Grades 5–8)
A friendly reminder for students in grades 5- 8! Per NHPS district policy, all students in grades 5–8 are required to secure their personal devices in a Yondr pouch during the school day, helping our Conte Lions stay present, focused, and engaged in learning. We appreciate your support in reinforcing this expectation at home.

Required School Forms
All families, new and returning, must complete our mandatory school forms before the start of school. Forms will be available on our website in August once student schedules are complete. A reminder will be sent when forms are ready.

We wish every Conte family a summer filled with rest and fun, and we can't wait to welcome our lions back for a year full of academic achievement, growth, and memorable experiences during the 2026–2027 school year at Conte West Hills.

🔆 Due to the predicted extreme heat, NHPS will have an early dismissal for all schools tomorrow, Friday, June 12, 2026. 🚌 Transportation will be provided for students who normally ride the bus. 💙 Thank you for understanding!

🎉 Field Day: Monday, June 15, 2026 This is a fun-filled day where students in PreK-Grade 6 will get to enjoy a variety of outdoor games, activities, and friendly competitions with their crew-mates. Here are a few important reminders to help your child have a great day: 🎽 Dress for Fun and Movement: Please have your child wear comfortable clothes and sneakers. 🔆 Sun Protection: Apply sunscreen before school. 💧Stay Hydrated: Send your child with a refillable water bottle labeled with their name. Thank you for helping us make Field Day a success!

🔬This year's District Science Fair was so much fun! We had more than 10 individual, team, and class projects representing Conte! It was truly a wonderful day celebrating curiosity, creativity, problem-solving, and scientific discovery. ✨ We are so incredibly proud of our students! Congratulations to all who participated! 🧬 Please join us tonight, Friday, June 5th, for Awards. ⏰ 6:30-7:30 pm Kindergarten-Grade 5 🕰️ 7:30-8:30 pm Grades 6-8 📍Alexion Building: 100 College Street, New Haven 🅿️ Free Parking at 100 College Street Garage (not Air Rights Garage) All students who attend will be called up on stage to receive an Honorable Mention 🏅 or 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place trophy for their projects! 🏆
